Developmental, Learning, and Behavioral Care for Kids and Teens
Parenting is both a joy and a challenge. We work with children and teens and their families, teachers, and other care providers to successfully address developmental and behavioral concerns and challenges. No matter your situation, we’re here to help.
Diagnostic evaluations are best suited to the child who is having ongoing struggles with development or behavior, and you are not yet sure why these struggles are present. These evaluations are usually completed over two visits. At the end of this process, you will have an understanding of the child’s diagnosis and how to move forward with a plan in place.
We provide medication consultations and follow-up medication checks. We also evaluate and recommend treatment options and provide email and phone support.
Behavior Management Sessions
There are many common childhood behavior problems that can be treated successfully by a developmental-behavioral pediatrician. Common problems such as sleep refusal, tantrums, defiance, anger outbursts, and toileting issues can be treated in our office. Dr. Zimmer will meet with you weekly, either via Telehealth or in person, to understand the problem and work on successive goals to get the behavior under control.
Ongoing Care of Developmental-Behavioral challenges
For the child who has an established diagnosis and is in need of ongoing care for their condition, we will see your child regularly and work with families, teachers, and other caregivers to support your child’s needs.

Michelle Zimmer, M.D., FAAP
I founded Tri-State Developmental Pediatrics in 2019 to help children and families understand and manage their child’s developmental and behavioral challenges. We treat children and teens ages 0-21 years. We believe that with early intervention and family-centered care, children and their families will be empowered to develop to their full potential in school, at home, and in their communities. We believe in the power of prevention and that no mental health or behavioral challenge is too small to intervene. We aim to individualize our evaluations and behavior management approach to the needs of each child. Our small practice allows us to get to know each family and provide this level of care. We aim to use a holistic approach to treatment of developmental and behavioral concerns, helping children to build their coping/ resilience skills, teaching parents behavior management approaches, optimizing therapies and community supports, and providing medication management when deemed beneficial.
