One of the most common questions I receive is “What kind of patients can you see? “

Here is a good description, but feel free to call if you want to discuss a patient...

Our practice offers diagnostic evaluations of children with suspected developmental delays, learning disabilities, ADHD, mood symptoms or autism.  Some of the testing instruments we utilize in the office include (but are not limited to):

Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)

Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS)

Gilliam Autism Rating Scale (GARS)

Mullen Scales of Early Learning

Kauffman Brief Intelligence Test (KBIT)

Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT)

Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales

Behavior Assessment Scale for Children

Vanderbilt Rating Scales

BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT.   I enjoy working with families on behavioral strategies on common behavioral problems such as oppositional behavior. We will have office visits and frequent phone and email follow up to see how the behavior plan is working....

MEDICATION CONSULTATIONS. We offer short term medication consultation, for those challenging cases in which medication management does not seem to be working. Sometimes we start from scratch and reevaluate the diagnoses and sometimes a few simple medication changes can put the child back on the path to school and home success. We will communicate all of our changes with the primary care office. Use our office as a resource when you need us. Our goal is to help build a supportive community, where pediatricians can come for assistance in managing these sometimes challenging cases in the primary care setting.

MIND BODY MEDICINE. Our practice offers classes to help children and teens build resilience and stress management skills. Currently we are offering guided imagery and mindfulness classes. These skills are so important for teens and are especially good for those patients in whom you see mood symptoms, stress, anger, and you want to prevent these symptoms from worse ending. It also can work for the teen who does not want to “talk to anyone” about their problems and is not ready to seek out a therapist.
